Vintage Shabby Chic 5-Tier (Day 2)

During this 2-day class you will learn how to level, fill, crumb-coat (ganache, cover with sugarpaste (fondant), dowel and stack a 5-tier vintage-style wedding cake to a professional standard. We will use fail-safe carving techniques and use a variety of sugar mediums to complete the elegant Victorian riding hat tier. We will go on to decorate the tiers using printed sugar wraps and make an array of edible ‘multi-media’ embellishments including handmade sugar ‘cutter’ flowers, sugar ‘fabric’ style flowers, die-cutting, edible paper lace, edible printing and stamping, gilding, rolled ‘fabric’ roses, Garrett frills, ruffle rosettes, multi-tone mouldings, decoupage, etc. This class is suitable for all levels of sugarcrafter from absolute beginner to more advanced decorators and makes the perfect first class for those wishing to learn a wide variety of sugarcraft techniques in a single day. The Vintage Shabby Chic class is also the perfect class for paper-crafters wishing to make the leap into edible crafts. During this class we will work on a mixture of Madeira cakes and dummy cakes, however, for anyone preferring to keep their cakes for future reference, we also offer the option to decorate 5 dummy (styrofoam) cakes.
