2-Tier Vintage Celebration (Deposit)

During this class you will create a beautiful vintage-inspired, 2-tier celebration cake fit for almost any occasion. This class is suitable for all levels of sugarcrafter including absolute beginners, intermediate and students with previous sugarcraft experience.
Working on a 7″ Madeira cake and a 5″ cake dummy, you will learn how to split, level, fill and crumb-coat a tall celebration cake, before going on to apply a delicious fail-safe ganache coating to provide the perfect foundation for sugarpaste (fondant).
I will show you how to apply a flawless sugarpaste (fondant) covering, avoiding pleats, cracks and ‘elephant skin’ and you’ll have the option to create on-trend sharp edges to bring your cakes bang up-to-date! Once your cakes are covered, I will guide you through the essentials of supporting multi-tiered celebration cakes, showing you how to securely stack your cakes for display and transportation.
Throughout the class we will discuss how to effectively colour and treat sugarpaste (fondant) to achieve a variety of sugar mediums suitable for vintage-inspired modelling, flower-making, moulded embellishments and piped details. You will be guided through an array of sugarcraft decoration techniques including un-wired flowers, delicate wired blossoms (Mexican hat’ method), ruffle rosettes, Garrett frill flowers, moulded jewel embellishments and edible lace.
